Artist Biography
I earned my BFA in Studio Art in 1983. Watercolors have been my primary fine art medium of choice since then, with oils being introduced back into my repertoire more recently. Artist’s Statement
My intention is to show the viewer a way to really see, to bring the viewer’s attention to a unique perspective of nature, from the expanse of trees to the detail of a single branch. I try to use color to create an almost fanciful expression, with light and shadow to add a dimension you could imagine walking into. I'm intrigued by the life and interplay of light and color as it changes throughout the day and how it reacts to the other colors nearby. Playing with the intensity of hue and value, I'd like to invite the viewer to see what color can do as it interacts with light and shadow and how it vibrates when placed next to it's color compliment. In my work I have paid attention to the potential of colors, light, and shadow in landscapes and even exaggerated them to visually make my statement.
